HISTORY
Founded in 1962 in Danville, California, C.W. Roen Construction Co. has specialized in prevailing wage public works construction since inception, particularly water and wastewater treatment, pumping plant, cogeneration and hydroelectric projects. We have completed contracts from under $1 million to $30 million all over Northern and Southern California, Nevada, and as far east as Boise, ID and Elko, NV.
EMPLOYEES
C.W. Roen Construction Co. employs both union and nonunion trade employees. In Northern California, we are signatory with the Carpenters, Cement Masons, Laborers, Millwrights and Operating Engineers. In Southern California, we are signatory with the Carpenters and Millwrights. We have in-house capabilities that permit us to self-perform CSI Divisions 2: Demolition and Earthwork, 3: Concrete, 5: Metals, 6: Wood and Plastics, 8: Doors and Windows, 10: Specialties, 11: Equipment, 12: Furnishings, 13: Special Construction, 14: Conveying Systems and 15: Mechanical. As a result, we subcontract less than half of the typical project, which results in tighter schedules, higher labor efficiency and lower costs.
MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING
Our management and engineering staff includes degreed and registered civil and mechanical engineers and construction managers. Our project managers average over 25 years experience in public works heavy construction. We use the latest in computer technology, hardware and software to estimate, schedule and manage our projects.
EQUIPMENT
C.W. Roen Construction Co. owns a fleet of construction equipment valued at nearly $3 million including hydraulic excavators to over 100,000 pounds, rough terrain cranes to 65 tons, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, rough terrain forklifts to 6 tons, water trucks, as well as miscellaneous compaction equipment, rollers, air compressors, welding machines, office and storage trailers and manlifts.
SAFETY
The recipient of four CEA Excellence in Safety Awards, C.W. Roen Construction Co. emphasizes safety above all else. We provide continuing education to all employees in all aspects of safety, including hazard communication, excavation, confined space entry, fall protection, electrical, respiratory, heat illness and fire protection safety, as well as first aid and CPR. Our employees are provided with the latest in personal protective equipment. All company employees are responsible and authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to keep the workplace safe for all. In addition, we engage independent safety consultants and inspectors on all projects to assist and advise us in maintaining jobsite safety. Further, C.W. Roen has teamed with CAL OSHA in the Golden Gate Partnership Program on recent projects in both Northern and Southern California.
